Growing up, chicken was served almost every single day at dinner. My mom worked at a chicken slaughterhouse and she would bring home chicken all the time. Of course, after a while we became picky and each one had their own preferences. Chicken drumsticks have been always my number 1 choice. Chicken tights come in close. Wings are 3rd. Somehow, chicken breasts were not my piece of cake.

Surprisingly, my husband and my daughter pick drumsticks over any other parts of chicken anytime. Yes, my freezer is loaded with chicken drumsticks!  And you know what, they are not only less expensive than buying chicken breasts, but they cook easily and are perfect for little hands to pick up.

Of course, in this recipe, you can use chicken breast cut into large chunks or strips if dark meat is not your thing, but really, drumsticks bring tons of flavors!

The glaze if nothing fancy, sweet, savory, just spicy enough to make a difference. A mix of hoisin sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, and flour. That’s all! Whisk all of them into a bowl and let the chicken drumsticks soak up the flavors for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Drumsticks usually soak up the flavor of sauces or marinades very quickly. There’s no need to let them sit in the fridge for hours at a time.

You can actually bake the drumsticks without letting them marinate. They will pick up the flavors as they slowly bake and you build more flavor once the drumsticks are out of the oven and are brushed you the remaining sauce.

You see, these oven baked glazed chicken drumsticks save you time and energy! With just a few ingredients and only 5 minutes of prep time, you’re on your way to an amazing dinner!

Don’t forget to bake the chicken with the skin on to keep it moist and juicy of the inside, and give just enough crisp on the outside.

The sauce I used for these baked drumsticks can be used if you prefer to grill your chicken. If you do so, blast the chicken with the remaining sauce a few times while on the grill.

I’m sure the sauce will pair perfectly with some finger-licking-good wings as well.

I served these glazed drumsticks with my famous mashed potato casserole.

What I love about this recipe is that it's baked. I can see the crispiness on the outside but it was able maintained juiciness and tenderness on the inside. I love the combination of flavors you used in the glaze. The recipe is just fantastic!
