Chocolate, coconut, and almond flavors are bursting in this homemade almond joy iced coffee. Your favorite candy bar now in a refreshing coffee drink.
A couple of weeks ago I received an email about two new iced coffee flavors just about to hit the coffee shops. I did a happy dance while reading the email and finding out an almond joy candy bar flavored coffee will be released.
Can you imagine? One of my favorite candy bars and coffee in one drink? Oh boy!! I was so excited! I could not wait until I could get my hands on one of those coffees.
Few days later, as I was driving my daughter to the gym practice, I pulled into the coffee shop drive-thru, ordered an almond joy iced coffee and waited impatiently at the window.
I placed my coffee in the cup holder and drove away. Minutes later, after dropping my daughter at the gym, it was coffee me time.
Minutes later, after dropping my daughter at the gym, it was coffee me time. Chocolate milk, almond flavor, coconut flavor and strong coffee just like the email promised.
From the very first sip, I could taste the almond and coconut flavors. I love coconut but found the flavor to be a little overpowering for my taste. And so was the almond flavor.
Halfway through my coffee, I realized I couldn’t taste the chocolate milk.
If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you know I have a long relationship with coffee shops coffees. Maybe my expectations are too high, but if you promise me a coffee bursting with my favorite’s candy bar flavor, you better deliver it.
The so-called almond joy iced coffee was not even close to what I imagined.
Disappointed, I put the coffee away and tried my best to get it out of my mind. That until, few days later, when I saw the Silk Almond Creamer at my local grocery store. Homemade almond joy iced coffee. YES!!
Chocolate, coconut, almond, ice and espresso! A candy bar in a refreshing summer coffee drink.
For the chocolate flavor, I used real chocolate. Unsweetened chocolate chips.
The coconut flavor came from sweetened coconut flakes.
For the almond flavor I used Silk Almond Creamer. The creamer not only brings the almond flavor to this coffee, but also makes it dairy free.
The verdict – Creamy and refreshing, bursting with chocolate and nutty flavors, this almond joy iced coffee is a drink I can enjoy all summer long!
What’s your favorite way to enjoy Silk Creamers?
In addition to adding it to this almond joy iced coffee, I love adding a little bit to my cup of black tea.
