This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of REESE’S® Brand. All opinions are 100% mine.

Score at your next basketball party with these hard to resist peanut butter and chocolate truffles shaped and decorated as mini basketballs!

Score at your next basketball party with these hard to resist peanut butter and chocolate truffles shaped and decorated as mini basketballs!

Basketball has been one of my favorite spots. May it be because it was the only sport game I played it in middle school and highscool. We were divided in two teams. half of us played handball, the other half basketball. I always found a way to be on the basketball team.

Now, years later, basketball is still my favorite game. I’m not a football person at all. I doubt I can name 5 football teams, don’t know when is the big game day or who took home the trophy, but ask me about basketball and I can tell you everything.

Whenever there’s a game on TV it is game day here! Snacks, finger foods, little sweet treats all make their appearance in the family room and one by one we find a comfy place to watch the game. A few times, depending on who’s playing we make in home bets – the prize can be anything from a candy to cleaning the dishes. Nothing fancy, but boy, it’s so fun! (especially when someone else will do the dishes).

Reese's peanut butter and chocolate truffles

When I was approached to participate in REESE’S® Baking Bracket Challenge this basketball season I felt like I score the winning ball! Creating a recipe that screams basketball? That’s no brainer! Chocolate and peanut butter truffles, I mean basketballs!

These edible basketballs can be the winning prize to any party! There are so cute and they combine two of my absolutely favorite ingredients – chocolate and peanut butter!

There’s chocolate, lots of it, inside the truffles mixed with chopped REESE’S® Peanut Butter Cups. That’s not all! Once the truffles are shaped they are dipped in peanut butter coating and a few stripes of melted chocolate to resemble the basketballs.

I don’t know how you wanna call them but these chocolate peanut butter truffles are a 3 point hoop! Score!

Would you like to score too? How about a $100 Walmart gift card? You do? Here’s how :

Go to the voting tab of REESE’S® Baking Bracket Challenge and choose which treats, in your opinion, would make a great impression on game day. (voting for my chocolate peanut butter truffles would make me super-duper happy)

Once you complete all the Match-Ups, you’re entered for a change to win $100 Walmart gift card. A winner is picked every day! How fabulous is that?!

Ingredients

    Truffles
  • 1 2/3 cups Hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup finely chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups
  • Coating
  • 1 cup Reese’s peanut butter chips
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • few drops of orange candy food coloring
  • Decoration
  • 3 tablespoons Hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof bowl, add the chocolate chips and heavy cream.
  2. Place the bowl on top of a simmering pot of water, and stir constantly until the chocolate had melted and the mixture is smooth and combined. Add the chopped peanut butter cups and stir until blended it and almost melted.
  3. Remove from the heat and let rest at room temperature for 6-8 hours or overnight until the mixture is hard enough to scoop.
  4. Cover a cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper. Using an ice-cream scoop or a teaspoon, scoop up small balls of the chocolate peanut butter mixture and roll them between your palms to get a round shape.
  5. Place the balls on the wax paper.
  6. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, make the peanut butter coating.
  8. In a heatproof bowl add the peanut butter chips and butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water and stir constantly until the peanut butter chips are melted and the mixture is smooth.
  9. Remove from the heat and stir it the orange candy color.
  10. *It’s very important for the food color to be for candy. Other food coloring may curdle the mixture.
  11. Let the peanut butter coating rest for 5-10 minutes at room temperature or until it’s not hot anymore.
  12. Remove the chocolate truffles from the fridge. With a fork, dip one truffle at a time in the peanut butter mixture, allowing the excess to drip back into the bowl.
  13. Place the coating truffle back on the wax paper. Do the same with the remaining truffles.
  14. Once all the truffles are coated in peanut butter ganache, let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to set.
  15. To make the chocolate decorations, melt the remaining chocolate chips and pour the melted chocolate (pay attention, it’s hot) in a zip lock bag. Cut a small corner and drizzle over the truffles.
  16. Store the truffles in an airtight container.

Oh my goodness these are super cute. Plus chocolate and peanut butter. Love!! I am not a big basketball fan although I was a cheerleader for the sport in high school. Maybe that is what did me in?
