Living in the countryside has its ups and downs.  The list is long but today I only want to focus on coffee shops.

We have a little coffee shop not too far from where I live and lucky for me, their coffee is terrible. It’s ok for once in a while coffee talk with a girlfriend, but I would not have this burning desire to stop every time I drive by it.

The coffee shops in town, that’s another story! With a wide selection of hot or cold drinks, it’s really hard to resist the temptation.

I used to go into town once, rarely twice, a week and grabbing a coffee wasn’t breaking the bank.No need to pay the high price for an iced caramel macchiato at the coffee shop! Make yourself one in less than 2 minutes anytime your craving strikes!

Then I started to go twice a week for Tiffany’s gymnastics practice and one time for swim class, and you guessed it, I was getting three drinks a week from the coffee shop.

And …. starting next week she’ll practice three times a week, plus one evening for the swim and just like that, in less than 6 months, I switched from 4 drinks a month to 4 expensive coffees a week.

I knew I had to make a change, or my coffee guilty pleasure will make a dent in my wallet. No need to pay the high price for an iced caramel macchiato at the coffee shop! Make yourself one in less than 2 minutes anytime your craving strikes!

Iced caramel macchiato is one of my favorite coffee drinks. I just love how macchiatos look with the separation of milk and espresso. I guess that’s why Italian call it stained coffee although if you ask me, it’s more like stained milk.

No need to pay the high price for an iced caramel macchiato at the coffee shop! Make yourself one in less than 2 minutes anytime your craving strikes! Anyhow, lucky for me, and for you, making  iced caramel macchiato at home is really easy and way cheaper!!

Before I tell you how to do it, I have to warn you. Once you find out how easy this is to make, you’ll reconsider paying $5 at the coffee shop.

Below is the way I like my iced caramel macchiato. You may want to practice to find out how you like yours. Maybe make it stronger and add more coffee, maybe sweeter and add more caramel. Or maybe you like it with cold milk. Practice and taste test. Soon your iced caramel macchiato will be tailored to your liking.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup International Delight Caramel Coffee Creamer
  • 1/4 cup milk (i prefer whole milk)
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1-2 shoots espresso or 2 oz dark coffee, cold
  • 1 tablespoon caramel sauce, to drizzle (optional)

Instructions

  1. Drizzle caramel on the sides of a glass letting the sauce pour on the insides. Set aside.
  2. Add the coffee creamer and milk to a heatproof cup. Microwave for 30-40 seconds and froth it to your preference. I have this froth maker and it takes about 20 pumps.
  3. Pour the milk into the prepared glass.
  4. Add ice to the glass until the milk level is about half an inch below the rim. (about 1 cup ice)
  5. Pour espresso over the ice and milk. Slowly!!!. This will prevent the espresso and milk from mixing, providing a nice separation effect of liquids.
  6. Drizzle more caramel syrup, if desired.
