A couple of weeks ago a friend emailed me a picture holding two 11lbs buckets of Nutella. A little crazy, my mind instantly start thinking of insanely crazy Nutella desserts. Desserts like these cupcakes, cookies or like this mind-blowing fudgy Nutella chocolate cake.

The moment I have read the recipe for this cake over at TidyMom I was hooked. A thin layer of chocolate cake topped with a rich, fudgy layer of cream cheese and Nutella. Think Nutella Cheesecake. I got your attention, haven’t I?

The original name of this cake it’s a chocolate butter cake and I’ve learned it’s a Southern cake, but for me the name does not count much. Butter cake or simple chocolate cake this cake will be made in my kitchen over and over again.

It’s so, so easy to make. Literarily, it will take you 5 minutes to put it together. Mix the ingredients for the chocolate cake and press it evenly on the bottom of the pan. Mix the Nutella cheesecake filling and pour over the crust. How hard is that? And let me tell you something else. Not only this cake is easy to make but it calls only for 8 ingredients (that if we count the vanilla extract as well)

Hi Kelli, I did not use any frosting. The bars in the photo are from the middle of the pan. The edges were looking like Cheryl's cake. Also, I think I took mine out of the over 1-2 minutes sooner. Roxana

Hi Christy, I haven't tried this Nutella cake with a homemade cake mix, but I have used this "cake mix" http://www.tammysrecipes.com/homemade_deluxe_chocolate_cake_mix successfully in other recipes that called for the store bought box. Let me know if you give it a try and how it turns out Roxana

I can't wait to make this!! Quick "dumb" question though... I can only find mixes that are around 15.25 oz. Will this make my cake differ much? Do I need to sub or subtract anything out? Thanks so much!!

Hi Rylee, Not that I know of. You could use ricotta cheese or mascarpone, but I have not tried it. Let me know if you do. Roxana
