Loaded with chocolate syrup, chocolate chips and fresh berries, this is like no other french toast casserole you’ve had before! It is pure awesomeness!
You know what they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If that means I can have french toast daily, yes please! Serve breakfast all day long!
I’ve had french toast on my mind for months, months I’m telling you! I have so many ideas I’m scared to even try them. It could easily become an addiction. But a good one. I mean, just look at this chocolate french toast casserole? Can someone say no and simply walk away without eating some like nobody’s watching?
Not me, and certainly no one in my family could. It’s heavenly!
French toast is comfort food. I’ve been a french toast lover for as long as I can remember. It was my mom’s favorite way to use stale bread. Sometimes we’d beg her to buy an extra loaf of bread just so we could have French toast for breakfast.
French toast, as most of you probably know, is made using ingredients you most likely already have handy. Stale bread, eggs, milk, sugar and a few other ingredients.
Traditionally, french toast is made by soaking slices of bread in a mixture of sweetened eggs and milk, toasted in a frying pan and topped with syrup of your choice.
A french toast casserole, is a cross between classic french toast and bread pudding. You soak bread cubes in a mixture of milk and eggs and bake until golden brown.
That unless you decide to ditch the classic french toast, load it with chocolate syrup, chocolate chips and lots of fresh berries. Close the door and start eating like there’s no tomorrow.
French toast casserole is the most scrumptious way to get rid of slate bread, if you ask me. It’s easy to prepare, calls for simple ingredients, you can make it the night before and just bake in the morning. And, it’s a hit even among the pickiest of the picky eaters!
If I’ve had french toast on my mind for months why it took me so long to share a recipe with you? Glad you asked. Well, as you know I always crave chocolate and combined with my recent french toast cravings seemed like the perfect dessert to bring to the virtual baby shower for my friend Lisa of Wine and Glue. She’s having a girl! Scroll to the bottom of this page to see all the irresistible goodies my friends and I are sharing today.
Congratulations Lisa!
