Nutella Truffles – a rich, smooth, creamy mixture of chocolate, cream, butter, chopped hazelnuts and heavenly Nutella. Easy and totally foolproof
February is the chocolate month. Everywhere you turn you see boxes of chocolate candy, chocolate bars, chocolate this, chocolate that so it should come to no surprise this month secret ingredient to our chocolate party is chocolate. Yes, we’re talking double chocolate.
I’m no stranger to double chocolate, I’ve even gone bananas with some triple chocolate cookies, cake and tart. Since tomorrow is Nutella day I’ve decided to add some Nutella to my favorite truffle recipe.
Chocolate party is a monthly event hosted by me together with some wonderful bloggers. Each month we pick an ingredient and pair it with chocolate. We blog about it by the end of the month.
I hope you’ll join our party and bake along with us. Also, if you’d like to know what are we up to and what ingredients we pick for the next parties, join our Facebook group.
All submitted posts will be pinned to the Chocolate party Pinterest board and will be promoted on other social media platform using the #chocolateparty hashtag.
Our recipes will be shared on the first Monday of each month and you can submit your own recipes until the end of the month. You can submit up to 3 recipes each month.
How to participate (the rules)
1.) Blog about your chocolate treat. Your recipe must include the two ingredients we choose. It can be a simple no bake treat or a sophisticated layer cake, the complexity level of the recipe is totally up to you.
2.) Include a link back to this post or the Chocolate party page. Optional, add the Chocolate Party logo in your blog post or on your sidebar.
3.) Your recipe must be published during the current month. Please do not link old recipes, they will be deleted.
These truffles are a mixture of chocolate, cream, butter, chopped hazelnuts and heavenly Nutella.
This recipe is totally foolproof. You can’t mess it up. That’s how simple it is!
Start by heating the heavy cream till the boiling point and pout it over soften butter and the finely chopped chocolate (I’ve used Scharffen Berger 70% but you can use 60 or even darker if you prefer as long as it’s not milk chocolate). Let it sit for few moments and stir until the mixtures becomes smooth, shiny and uniform. Now add Nutella and finally chopped hazelnuts. Mix until combined and chill until easy to handle.
After the mixture is chilled enough to handle, take small pieces (little over a teaspoon) and roll them between your palms to get them (somehow) round. If it gets too sticky, dust your palms with a little cocoa powder.
Once all the balls are done the fun begins. Take out your sprinkles and rolls the truffles to cover. Alternately you can use cocoa powder, powder sugar or finely chopped hazelnuts, but I think the sprinkles are more fun to work with and make the truffles even more irresistible. Don’t you think so?
When you’re done, pour yourself a glass of cold milk, sink your teeth into this little ball of rich creamy chocolate candy and hide. You’ll have a hard time sharing these little treasures.
