The idea of these cupcakes came from one of my favorite cookbooks “Chocolate and Coffee Bible” While thumbing it, looking for new chocolate-y goodness I stumbled upon a recipe for chocolate cupcakes. Now chocolate vanilla cupcakes are always welcome in my kitchen, but the thought of coffee chocolate cupcakes was haunting me.
For these cupcakes I advice you to use the best dark chocolate you have. I’ve used Green and Black’s organic dark 85% chocolate. It had a subtle bitterness which paired beautifully with the instant coffee in the cake. I also added some instant coffee to the frosting. Addictive!

Sending love your way,

I’m still in a huff about the new changes. I REFUSE to pay to promote my posts…
On another note… Thank you so much for guest posting today you did a great job and it’s such a lovely recipe. xoxo
Thank you for the clarification on the FB pages… I was super confused! Still frustrating that they’re making us do that, though. These cupcakes look lovely!
Roxana, I love how you tied a bow around the cupcake. That is such a lovely idea. It makes them look really special. The next time I have a birthday party maybe I’ll do that with a ribbon the same color as the theme. Thanks for always inspiring me. To be honest, Facebook drives me bananas. Last night I was saying that I want to spend more time commenting on my friends’ blogs and less time on Facebook because I’m always frustrated when I am on there. Glad to know I’m not the only one. Have a beautiful day!
Very very beautiful guest post! Thanks, Carrie, Roxan.
I have been having problems with facebook too…
Your cupcakes are sooo pretty with the ribbon.
🙂 Mandy
I hate all the changes FB makes, and this one is just too much!! I am going to have to take your idea, and put this in a post, so hopefully people will subscribe!
Cupcakes look amazing!
Thank you so much for posting this! It’s beyond frustrating to deal with all the changes on FB… These cupcakes look too good to eat but I love coffee in my desserts so I would love them!
These look soooo good, and beautiful photos too! Thanks.
Ok, there’s a cookbook called “Chocolate and Coffee Bible”?! Must add to my collection. These are my kind of cupcakes!
Roxana, love the cupcakes, I should add that book to my collection too 🙂
Oh my goodness! I am so very frustrated with Facebook and ever so lonely as well. It’s so hard to engage with people when they don’t even see your posts. I have about had it with them. On another note, I love these cupcakes! Gorgeous photos and they sound absolutely delicious.
All the Facebook changes are making me go bonkers, LOL! Heading over to enjoy your beautiful recipe, they sound DELICIOUS:-)Love your pictures! Hugs, Terra
I have the same book and its delicious! I’ve noticed this recipe but just never got around to making! Great looking cupcakes, Roxanne! 🙂
Oooh, those look amazing. I love a good cup of coffee with whipped cream…This looks so good.
Regarding Facebook, don’t believe everything you read. Everyone said we’d be paying to even be a part of it; we’re not. The paid promoting is the same thing as creating an ad. For just having a page, nah. If they tried to do that, everyone would just create a new ‘person’ for their business.
LOL, you go girl! I don’t really use my FB page much anyway, so I’m not going to worry about it too much.
Gorgeous cupcakes!
No way I’m breaking into my piggy bank to pay fb either! Crazy. These cupcakes look killer. I love coffee and chocolate together!
OMG!! I am still trying to graps stumble upon and pinterest and now more changes to FB!! I misssed your blog! These cupcakes are goregous, heading over to check them out!
Beautiful cupcakes!!!
I’m with you and not very happy with facebook. Your cupcakes on the other hand make me very, very happy!
i had no idea about this facebook change. I am beginning to kind of not like FB anymore. You would think they would listen to people more than do their own thing. I will make sure to add you to my show in news feed. Loving these cupcakes
First off, your cupcakes are gorgeous! Next…yikes, I did not realize those changes, will have to go in and check the pages I follow!
SInce I got back from Thailand, I haven’t baked anything. None! Thanks to your blog to inspire me to bake something and get hungry everything I’m here!
It’s not easy keeping up with all the changes at Facebook but well worth the trouble to make sure you don’t miss the updates from favorite bloggers!
Your coffee flavored cupcakes look heavenly;-)
absolutely delicious-looking cupcakes! this should be great in the morning – hehe! so what are all these changes happening in FB? they will now charge for feeds to appear on pages? so no more free link sharing?? oh no!
Roxana…these cupcakes and your food styling and photography are just stunning! Coffee and chocolate in a cupcake for me…well that’s breakfast! Thanks for the heads up on the facebook stuff. I am so challenged by all this social media…especially facebook. So please….I’ll do anything if you just help (drag) me through it!!! : )
Beautiful cupcakes Roxy! Love the presentation and your photos are just so darn tempting to me!
I haven’t look into facebook’s new settings lately…I just set what i need to and let it go! i don’t let them get to me LOL!
Lovely post! Have a nice night!
I can’t keep up with all the changes. Grrr. But hey, a coffee cupcake? Yes please!
Wow Roxana, photos of your delicious coffee cupcakes are AMAZING!!! They look so real, like right in front of my eyes! I can almost grab one for my coffee break… Tsk tsk, I gotta make my own one day so I have a real treat in front of me! Really delicious looking cupcakes Roxana!
Thank you for the FB updates – I can’t keep up with them all. Coffee and a cupcake all rolled up into one neat package – this is perfect. Very pretty.
I love coffee cake! These look gorgeous! And such a nice touch with the bow!!!
Coffee brings out the best of chocolate so nicely. I bet these were a hit, Roxana. Will check out your guest post. 🙂
Anything with coffee is a hit with me. In cupcake form is even better. FB keeps on changes things that it’s becoming harder and harder to keep up with them.
I hate the FB changes too. I am not going to pay them to share my posts!!
And um, this cupcake looks amazing! I love all things coffee-flavored!
WARNING: i had to make 4 batches of frosting for 24 cupcakes.
Hi Jaina,
Thanks for the advice. I’m assuming you topped your cupcakes with much more frosting than I did.
Roxana
At what point do you add the 1/2 c sugar to the cupcake batter? I can’t seem to find it in the recipe. Thanks!
Hi Steph,
I apologize for that. I just edited the recipe. You add the sugar with the butter.
These are unique, a must try, Pinned!
