Melt-in-your-mouth buttery cookies, these shortbread like snowball cookies are one of the most requested baked treats at the cookie exchange. One bite and you’ll understand why they are so addictive!
Snowball cookies always put a smile on my face. They remind me of childhood and my mom always busy in the kitchen making sure everything is ready by Christmas eve.
I was probably 7 or 8 when she asked me for the first time to help her in the kitchen with the Christmas cooking. I couldn’t do much, I was terrified of touching anything for fear I would break or spill something. She sat me down on a chair and asked me to break the nuts.
I could see her, in the corner of my eye, carefully measuring the ingredients and talking to herself making sure there will be plenty of cookies for everyone. She loved having friends and family coming over for holidays.
For the past years I have been making snowball cookies for at least one cookie exchange. Although I try to make different cookies, my friends keep asking for these cookies.
I have slightly adapted the recipe from my mom, mostly because her measure of 1 glass of flour as it was hand written on the yellow piece of paper does not have an equivalent in my kitchen, but after just a few trials, I baked the most addictive, buttery snowball cookies ever!
